Choose one of the stages of film that we have studied in lesson. Conduct further research into the stage of your choice; this can be based on some of the names we looked at during our three lesson study. Some of your research could entail the following:

* Titles of key films/film from the era
* Key/influential directors or film makers
* Use and development of techniques
* Use and development of technology

Explore the validity of the film by commenting on the following things:

Introduction:
 - Discuss the making and the quick success of 'Catfish'

* Use of micro elements
* Camera work
* Suggestions of paratexts
* Comparison with other related films (e.g. 'The Social Network)

Conclude with your opinion about whether or not this film is 'a fake'

Produce a response to the debate about whether ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ is truly independent.
In your response, you should refer to at least one other independent film as a basis for comparison. You should also consider:

1. How independent film started
2. How representative it is of historic indie films
3. Whether or not it marks progression in this category
4. Use at least one other independent film to compare it with
5. Conclude – providing your own opinion about whether or not this should be classed as an independent film.

Choose an Independent Film Production Company to research.

Does the company specialise in any film genre or style?
Does the company produce high budget films?
How does the company finance it's films? (Co-productions? Government funding? BFI? Regional Funding? Private Investors?)
Is the company Vertically Integrated?
Is the company Horizontally Integrated?

What are the advantages of being an Independent Film Production Company?
What are the disadvantages?
